The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
