Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team reach locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This means them few options but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.
Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
