The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Over Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
